"Pierre Ambrogiani (1907-1985), Large Bouquet, Oil On Canvas, Signed, Certificate"
Pierre Ambrogiani was born in Ajaccio, but his family soon decided to settle in Marseille. From then on, his youth was that of the children of the people of the southern port. He developed an artistic language from a very early age, proving himself very attracted to drawing and modeling. At the age of 12, he became a "little telegraphist" in Marseille, and the following year exhibited his santons in a crèche during an annual meeting of postal workers. In 1923, he was 16 years old, the painter Auzias, seduced by his colorful figurines, offered him a place on the fringes of his exhibition at the goldsmith Langlois. Little by little, the young artist would become the precursor of a Provençal painting called "action" due, among other things, to the direct expression of the material in these paintings. In 1937, he took the plunge and devoted himself entirely to painting, notably participating in the Salon d'Automne of which he became a member. He was present at numerous collective exhibitions of contemporary French art, in France and abroad from 1948 to 1980, such as in Paris, Marseille, Toulouse, New York, London, Oxford, Philadelphia, Turin and Zurich. Over the years, the artist Pierre Ambrogianide became a renowned figure in France and an international figure, who proudly flew the flag for the South.
