Artist: Raymond Rosso ( 1924-1986)
Raymond ROSSO, The old port of Marseille, oil on panel signed lower left. Blue lacquered wooden frame. "La gare" by Raymond Rosso, large pastel on paper from his post-impressionist period, very influenced by Bonnard. Framed under glass. Raymond Rosso was born in Marseille in the Estaque district. He died in 1988 in Saint-Leu-La-Forêt; his paintings reflect his passion for nature whose light and atmosphere he captures. His years at the School of Fine Arts in Marseille led him to present his paintings in various galleries in Marseille and Paris. In 1966 he exhibited at Mediterranean Art in Paris and received the Paris Critique prize. The Didoma Museum in Israel acquires one of his paintings. In 1982-83-84, R.Rosso exhibited at the Drouant gallery in Paris and at the Paris Salon where his post-impressionist works enjoyed great success.
