The binding is very rich, in addition to being engraved with motifs and lambrequins enhanced with gilding, the sponsor requested that a monogram J be affixed in 18-carat solid gold in the center.
This monogram is well hallmarked with an eagle's head and a goldsmith's hallmark.
As can be seen in the photos there are small rubbing marks and the case has foxing.
