Original plate engraved on steel from 1849 from the UNIVERSAL DICTIONARY OF NATURAL HISTORY directed by M. CHARLES D'ORBIGNY. Plate 17 representing the dotted seahorse and the flying exocet, signed Oudart Pinx. / Fournier SC. / LamoureuxImp. This plate was sold by subscription with another plate in a cardboard pocket before the editions in different volumes. Framed in pitch pine with fillet. I have other plates of fish and shells to frame.
