"Mid-19th Century French School. Embroiderer In A Parisian Interior. Signed H. Gruyer."
French school around 1850 or 1860. Oil on canvas in good condition. However, a small restoration (few things) is expected at the stool where the basket containing fabrics is placed. Some fine cracks and two scratches. The composition is superb with this embroiderer in an interior with multiple details, hanging violin, calendar, books, cards, drawing boards, inkwell, lamp. A window open on the roofs and chimneys of Paris, so many things which contribute to giving an atmosphere and a calm and pleasant ambiance. a success. The canvas is enlarged by two centimeters at the top. dimensions 47.6 cm x 37.5 cm. I present it in an old frame with its original gilding some small losses to the dimensions of 55.5cm x 47.3 cm. The painting bears a beautiful signature at the bottom left, which I have not identified, H. Gruyer.
