Rare and beautiful copy in a rich 17th century red morocco Du-Seuil binding, abundantly illustrated with beautiful full-page figures and portraits, in a generous folio format, ribbed spine decorated with beautiful gilt iron in the boxes, green morocco title, covers with gilt fillet frames and spandrels, interior lacework, gilt edges, marbled endpapers, a beautiful piece, this Work by Antoine Dondé: "The Figures and Abbrégé of the Life, Death and Miracles of Saint François de Paule". Paris Muguet. In-Folio (12)-XIX-(1bl)-171-(1bl)-(13)p & 24 plates + a series of 18 plates inserted before the 13p of tables. That is 42 Figures in all. Magnificent original edition complete with its 24 plates containing a suite (portraits) present in all copies, but of which there are a large number here. Concerning the suite: it is "Portraits of some people noted for their piety of the Order of Minims with their praises taken from the Historians and chronicles of the same Order" (published in 1668).
