Chinese "thousand Faces" Fan In Box, Circa 1850.

High-quality double-sided fan with gilded black lacquered wooden branches and guards. The two paper leaves are hand-painted and depict figures in a garden setting, with different images on each side. The figures, with their applied faces and silk clothing, are complete in their original black lacquered box. It is in excellent, almost unused condition.
