Venetian mirror with engraved glass, early 20th century, size 90 x 73 cm.
A superb example of the craftsmanship of Venetian master engravers, renowned for their centuries-old glassmaking tradition. The frame is composed of hand-engraved and beveled glass panels decorated with classical mythological themes: Jupiter with thunderbolts, Minerva with a book, Venus with a mirror, Mars with a helmet in each corner, and Vulcan with a hammer, symbol of his divine forge.
The mirror is in good overall condition, with only a few minor chips on the outer glass frame and one missing floral ornament at the bottom.
