Pair
of oil on canvas paintings measuring 92 x 75 cm without frame and 102
x 87 cm with frame depicting a nobleman and a rich lady by the
painter Antoine Pesne ( Paris 1683 - Berlin 1757 ).
This pair
depicts him with a simple image with his hair cropped and his gaze
turned towards the viewer, in its formal simplification, but with an
intense expressive characterisation, framed frontally, with the whole
bust, she with the ‘use of blue and pink tints in the drapery and
the monochrome background make the protagonist's face stand out,
which appears smooth and luminous with the addition of a few simple
and elegant gestures and precious objects.
These canvases
realistically and colourfully depict important figures of high rank
in France.
