"Sugimoto "
The Farmer - bronze 1930-50 by Soichi Sugimoto (1894 - 1983) - Active in Shizuoka City. Good condition - dark brown patina - some small oxidation - signed. With its original presentation box, in paulonia wood. Sculptor active between 1928-60 in the prefecture of Shizuoka (between Tokyo and Nagoya). Created four Buddhist statues for the prefecture in the 1930s. In 1928 a statue of a monk founder of the tea ceremony. Moved to the city on a wooden elephant, before being placed in the temple. His work is composed mainly of traditional or Buddhist subjects, and portraits. And in the 1950s sports monument. He sculpted small animal subjects in logs, fragments, temples or dismantled bridges. 3.2 kg. A certificate will be given to the buyer.
