Bronze with matte brown/black patina - gray marble base (some minor wear). In 1917, studied with Tobari Kogan (student of Rodin), entered the Research Institute of the Pacific Painting Association. From 1924 to 1928 he was a student of Aristide Maillol (he turned out to be the only student Maillol took). Upon his return, he extended his production to dry lacquer, thus mixing Western-style forms and ancestral Japanese material. 1951 - Exhibited at the 1st Sao Paulo Biennale - Member of the Academy of Fine Arts of Japan in 1952 - professor at the Tokyo University of the Arts. In 1983, he was awarded the Order of Cultural Merit - Works notably at the Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo (as well as the Akone Museum, Sapporo). - A certificate and illustrated biography will be given to the purchaser.
