Gold Enamel Pearl Swordfish Pendant Brooch Art Deco Period
This delicate brooch from the early 20th century represents a sailfish with its characteristic large dorsal sail. The body is paved with half-pearls. The fins, tail, dorsal sail and details of the rostrum are enameled blue and white. The eye is set with a tiny red stone.
The later addition on a soldered plate of an articulated bail that retracts allows it to be worn as a pendant. Lever safety clasp system typical of the early 20th century, perfectly functional.
Hallmarks on the clasp: 14k and unidentified maker's symbol (probably American from Newark).
Perfect condition, USA early 20th century, circa 1920.
Dimensions 3.8cm x 2.6cm.
Weight 6g
