"Noli me tangere", oil on canvas from the end of the 17th century or beginning of the 18th century. French school. "Noli me tangere", Latin phrase meaning "Do not touch me". Taken from the Gospel according to John, it recalls the episode where the resurrected Jesus Christ pronounces this sentence to Mary Magdalene who, shocked after his death, wandered near his tomb.
