Portrait Of Gabriel F d'Herisson, Officer Of The King's Bodyguard Squadron, Restoration Period
Early 19th century French School, portrait of an officer in charge of the King's Bodyguard Squadron. He wears the uniform of this elite corps, decorated with the knight's crosses of the Order of Malta, the Legion of Honor, and Saint Ferdinand. Oil on canvas presented in its original gold leaf gilded frame. Restoration period, circa 1820.
Our portrait is titled on the back Gilbert François Gabriel d'Herisson, born December 27, 1788, captain in the 5th Dragoons in 1816 (Herault Regiment), transferred in 1820 to the King's Bodyguard as Squadron Leader.
Our portrait is an original work, representing precisely the Lord of Herisson, of whom we know another miniature portrait by Elie Dignat dated 1818, in the uniform of an officer of the 5th Dragoons, with the same medals, the same features, fine moustache and curly hair.
Beautiful portrait, unfortunately not signed.
