Paul Emile Pissarro is the fifth son of Camille Pissarro and Camille Vellay. Raised in an artistic household like his brothers, it seems that he was the most predisposed to painting.
Claude Monet, his godfather, gave him lessons in painting and horticulture. He also studied in a private art academy which marked the difference in his career path with that of his brothers and sisters who mainly benefited from their father's tutoring. Paul Emile Pissarro's painting was influenced by Paul Cézanne, whom he had met several times in Paris. In the 1920s, he evolved with his artist friends such as Maurice Vlaminck, Kees Van Dongen and Raoul Dufy.
Our painting is among the painter's best subjects with the apple trees in bloom in Normandy. A large format work, in perfect condition with a good subject, extremely sought after by many collectors around the world.
