Emile Aubry is a French painter born on April 18, 1880 in Sétif and died January 9, 1964 in Voutenay-sur-cure. A student at the Beaux Arts in Paris, he joined the studios of Jean-Léon Gérome and Gabriel Ferrier in 1901. He distinguished himself in the painted sketch competition in 1903 and won the Prix de Rome in 1907 for his Virgil. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français between 1905 and 1937. He received a gold medal in 1920, the Jean-Jacques Henner Prize in 1926, and a medal of honor in 1934. In 1935, he was elected to the Academy of Fine Arts. It is precisely in the alliance of classicism and modernism that Emile Aubry deploys a singular style, testifying to a deep anchoring in academic traditions while opening himself to the influences of his time. He has exhibited in numerous museums, including the Cantini Museum in Marseille, the Carnavalet Museum in Paris and the Musée National des Beaux-Arts du Québec..
