Born in the Harlem district of New York in a Dominican family, JonOne began his graffiti activities in adolescence. Self-taught, in search of freedom, he gradually developed a full-fledged artistic practice which led him to become, in the 1980s, a true figure of street art in his hometown alongside artists such as the emblematic Jean Michel Basquiat, Dondi White and Anthony Clark known as Aone. He then moved from urban media to canvas, a medium on which he will be exhibited around the world. In his graffiti paintings, the space is entirely used, the white void does not exist. Color appears as John's lifeblood, his palette is rich and vivid, the tones and contrasts reveal subtle plays of light. A world-renowned artist, he seduces critics and collectors alike.
