Clock XVIIIème Etienne Lenoir
Rare small Louis XVI period clock signed on the dial "Ene LENOIR à Paris" for Etienne Lenoir, a clockmaker listed in the Tardy, a dictionary of French clockmakers. Quality of chiseling and gilding typical of the 18th century, in a remarkable state of conservation.
Architecture in mercury-gilded bronze with gold. The central part is openworked with geometric patterns as well as a large laurel wreath on the front, ornamentation at the top of an arch, torch, quiver in a cloud of clouds. Two pairs of doves at the ends of the base, dove symbolizing loyalty.
Domed dial in white enamel accompanied by very finely chiseled gilded hands. Dial protected by domed glass.
Non-original mechanism from the Napoleon III period stamped "Barbot", mechanism modified with a wire suspension, striking the hours and half hours on an old bell. Only the mechanism has been changed by a 19th century, everything else is original, hands, dial, etc...
