Gilt Bronze Portico Clock, Neoclassical Restoration Period

Artist: Bardou à Paris
A large gilt bronze portico clock with four antique-style columns. Extensive applied ornamentation of crowns on the base and metopes on the entablature. The base of the columns is decorated with a laurel torus, and the horned capitals of the Composite order feature two registers of acanthus leaves and an egg-and-dart frieze. The dial is signed Bardou in Paris, and the mechanism is signed Pons for Honoré Pons (1773-1851). Circa 1820. Minor wear to the patina; the movement is in working order.
