Painter: Jean Cluseau-Lanauve (1914 Périgueux-1997 Paris), a student of the Beaux Arts in Paris, he became the leader of the Paris school. He remained attached to his native Périgord where he had kept a studio. Exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français, bronze medal at the 1937 Universal Exhibition in Paris. Guest of honor at the Universal Exhibition in New York in 1939. Universal Exhibition in Osaka in 1970. Venice Prize in 1948. In 1989 he became official painter of the Navy. Puvis-de-Chavannes Prize for his entire body of work in 1993. It is exhibited in many museums around the world. This vibrant and colorful painting fits perfectly into the codes of Cubism, a style dear to the artist. In the background, hills appear on the horizon while the sea blends into the reflections of a sunset sky with bright hues. In the foreground, a colorful flowerbed, majestic palm trees that add a touch of exoticism to the scene, walkers stroll along a balustrade. A kiosk and a lamppost complete the picture. The whole work, with its geometric shapes and bright colors, evokes a feeling of cheerfulness and lightness.
