Mascaron "leafy Mask" In Carved Wood, 17th Century

- Leafy mask in carved wood of pin wood, work of the 17th century.

- In the center, are the essential elements drawing the face: a mouth with almost grimacing lips, a wide nose, prominent cheekbones and two elongated almond-shaped eyes. Leaves seem to act as hairy apparatus. This is evidenced by the two large leaves emerging from the corners of the mouth and curling like a moustache and the large leaf at the top following the character's eyebrow arch.

- This "leafy mask" motif, inherited from the Middle Ages, seems to express the fusion between the plant and human worlds.
