Object description :

"Painted Canvas, In Imitation Of A Tapestry, Work From The 19th Century"
- Painted canvas, in imitation of a tapestry, work from the 19th century

- This painted canvas presents a village scene on the banks of a river whose right bank is overlooked by a castle. The characters who animate the scene are painted with precision. The same goes for architectural elements and vegetation. This canvas offers a beautiful harmony of light and delicate tones, bathing the scene in a soft and velvety atmosphere.

- Trompe l'oeil border imitating the frame of a picture frame with fusarole patterns with rounded ends alternating with pearls.

- This type of painting on canvas belongs to a production traditionally called “painted tapestries”. By this name, we meant paintings imitating tapestries made on textile canvases such as linen.

-Good state of conservation. Restorations and slight moisture stains should be noted (see photos).
