Porcelain Water Pot With Sancai And Blue Enamels - China 18th Century Kangxi Period
Water pot, with sancai and blue glaze in the shape of cucurbits, the opening of the pot is decorated with a frieze of ruyi. The pot fixed on a hexagonal base in green enameled porcelain, the feet forming chimera heads.
China 18th century
Kangxi period (1661-1722)
It is particularly rare to find blue on a sancai glaze, however, in the inventory of Augustus the Strong, some enameled biscuits also have this blue color, with sancai enamels, see: N. 152, PO 4489 (dated from the Kangxi period)
Height: 5.7cm (total)
Diameter at the opening: 2.8cm
Length at the base: 5.5cm
On the one hand, for us the pot and the base were intended to form only one and the same object since sealed to each other. However, the association is not perfect, so the pot does not rest perfectly straight and hermetically on the base, although it is absolutely impossible to separate them.
Some cracks and scratches when opening, some firing defects. Some firing cracks.
More information and photos on request.
