Multi-level incense box, jukogo, in carved and lacquered wood. Black lacquer with the lower part covered inside with metal for transporting the coal. The decoration in gold maki-e lacquer represents momiji maple leaves, reminiscent of autumn. The interior is in nashiji lacquer, flecked with gold. Piece of very beautiful craftsmanship and high quality lacquer. Japan, Edo era, 7.5 x 5.5 cm.
