Pagoda Project - 19th Century French School
Pagoda project - French school of the 19th century
This drawing represents a pagoda with 6 floors, each more richly decorated than the other. We notice many classical references such as colonnades or sculptures from the antique.
However, the main source of inspiration of the artist remains most certainly the famous pagoda of Chanteloup (see the second image). Built in the 18th century by the Duke of Choiseul on his estate of Chanteloup near Amboise, the pagoda is a symbol of neoclassical french architecture and rises to nearly 44 meters high.
Height: 53.5 cm - Width: 38.5 cm
Folds and tears. Well framed
