Small carved wooden sarcophagus mask, presenting a face with schematic features. The almond-shaped eyes are set off by a marked relief, without incised pupils. The nose is straight, slightly prominent, and the small, closed mouth is discreetly indicated by a slight modeling. The woodwork reveals tool marks and a surface that is now patinated, with very tenuous remains of polychromy in certain areas, notably around the eyes.
The bottom of the mask is flared to allow its insertion into a support or a sarcophagus element. The longitudinal cracks and losses reveal the aging of the material and the mechanical stresses undergone over time.
The object is mounted on a modern black wooden base, not antique, intended for presentation.
Total height: 24 cm. with the base - 18cm without the base
Width: 11cm
