Round Box With Pomponne Cage Mid 18th Century Jasper Tablets And Miniature
Box in Pomponne, and jasper.
The hinged lid is decorated with a round miniature under a domed glass: portrait of a young woman in a pink dress with a very high hairstyle covered with a bonnet tied under the chin with a blue ribbon ornament.
The miniature is surrounded by a circular garland motif of leaves and flowers in repoussé chiseled in the metal.
The cage mount is set all around with eight jasper plates under beveled glass or crystal plates.
The bottom is also in hard stone, probably pinkish red jasper.
The inside of the lid bears an old number in ink, probably a collector's reference.
Very good condition, works perfectly!
Only one chip on the inside of one of the crystal plates.
Period 18th century around 1760.
Diameter 6.7cm height 3.2cm.
