Victor Hugo wrote "Goddesses, now, open the Helicon for me." on a letter that Emmanuel Des Essarts, who had just attended the wedding of Fréderic Mistral, sent him to convey the tributes and wishes of the poets of Provence including Félix Grap. A phrase from Virgil that Hugo would borrow for the Legend of the Centuries.
