Paris, Librairie Plon, 1894; in-8, 452 + 516 + 612 pp., modern full brown cloth binding, smooth spines, title pieces in brown leather, preserved covers, marbled edges. The 3 volumes. With a consignment from the author. The author began his career during the conquest of Algeria in 1840, he took part in almost all the battles and wars of France until the war of 1870. In 1873 he was appointed Minister of War in the government of 'Albert de Broglie.
