A rare and complete set of fruit bowls in the Neo-Renaissance or Persian style, made of blown glass with a slight amber tint and iridescent highlights, comprising three pieces: A large lobed display dish or platter in the shape of a stylised shell, with fluted edges highlighted by a gold fillet. A cream jug (or creamer) fitted with a small attached handle. A lidded circular sugar bowl topped with a gilded spherical knob. The set features a rich polychrome enamelled decoration in slight relief and gilded, comprising arcana, stylised acanthus scrolls, leafy volutes and flowers of Arab-Persian and Renaissance inspiration (in shades of brick red, cobalt blue, white, yellow and emerald green).
Austria (Vienna) and France (Paris). Napoleonic III period.
