Jompre Statue, Nigeria
Statue representing a maternity standing on slightly bent legs. The belly is rounded, the breasts and the sex are present. The rather square face, displays a satisfied, serene air. The back of the body, the neck and the hair are dotted with holes that were once filled with seeds. We know little about Jompre statuary. We can assume that this one was linked to a fertility cult.
