Folk Art Sculpture
Today I present this curious wooden sculpture, a character with sulphide eyes. I have had it in my collection for at least 45 years and it has often been requested by lovers of Popular Art. It is curious because of this Colonial helmet. I have long thought that it could have been executed by a convict who had served a long sentence in Guyana and who wanted to represent a supervisor. I had also thought of a witchcraft object but I would lean towards the first option. If someone can enlighten me, I would be grateful. Weight 550 gr (E24)
