Antique Telescope Dollond 'day Or Night' Terrestrial & Astronomical Use
Artist: Dollond
Signed 'Dollond London. Day or Night', circa 1830, brass barrel sheathed in mahogany, on turned wooden base painted black, with 2 walnut adjustment pegs, with leather fastener. The signature of the famous English manufacturer appears in gold iron on the first print, this indicates the specificity of this spotting scope, with a single "day or night" print, equipped with a 40 mm achromatic objective. The instrument thus adapts to all light conditions and can be used for terrestrial or astronomical use, particularly for navigation. Eyepiece and objective closures with pivoting apertures. Good condition, presented on an elegant Napoleon III type base. Slight cracks on the mahogany barrel. Barrel Diameter: 60mm (2.36") Visible Objective Glass Diameter: 40mm (1.57")
