Cup on pedestal decorated in iron red with bats with outstretched wings, the foot decorated with foaming waves above geometric friezes In Chinese iconography, the bat symbolizes luck, happiness and prosperity At the bottom of the foot, a collector's label from the beginning of the 20th century bears the inscription "tao kouang" phonetic pronunciation of daoguang in a way to be understood by a Western audience.
