Hamadan rug in hand-knotted wool with stylized floral geometric decoration on a dark old pink field.
This comfortable rug is in very good condition before 1950, the edges and the velvet are in very good condition.
A beautiful old rug which is adorned with very pleasant colors, remaining fresh over the years.
The quality of the wool used in this region is good because it is fine and silky.
It is due to the use of goat mohair, camel hair mixed with sheep wool.
The use of camel hair and mohair makes the carpets softer and lighter.
The range of colors used, bright and vivid, is specific to this region.
The border with continuous patterns takes up the colors of the carpet and the four spandrels are adorned with stylized flowers and sticks. Hamadan is a city located in western Iran, 300 km west of Tehran.
It is one of the oldest cities in the world and is ancient Ecbatana, referred to in the Book of Esther.
This town is the center of a large trade in carpets produced in the surrounding towns and villages.
The best of them are marketed under their own name, such as Nahavand, Malayer....
