Object description :

"Pair Of Lamps, Delft 18th Century"
This pair of Delft earthenware vases was mounted in bronze in the 19th century, the base and the top of the neck were custom-made to adapt to the shape of the vases. The latter are decorated with a blue decoration on a white background inspired by Chinese porcelain brought back by the ships of the East India Company in the 17th and 18th centuries; in the case of our ceramics it is composed of stylized, plant and arabesque motifs. , birds and flowers. This taste for Chinoiserie was very widespread in the 18th century, European earthenware factories, and more particularly Delft, dreamed of producing porcelain imitating those brought from the distant Orient. The baluster shape has eight pinched and gadrooned ribs. The bronzes which were originally in gold varnish, today have a bronze patina of the most beautiful effect. 18th century period for the vases, 19th century for the mount. The electrification has just been redone, and the basic lampshades are there for presentation in order to give the customer the choice of colors and shape, the latter do not always justify the shipping costs.
