Object description :

"Baccarat: Large Confiturier In Solid Black Crystal, “harcourt Missouri” Model."
BACCARAT factory. Very rare and beautiful covered jam bowl with a flared shape, hexagonal section and moving neck edge, made of thick, very dense solid crystal, mold-blown and tinted black throughout. The body of the jam maker is decorated with large flat ribs, reminiscent of the Manufacture's illustrious “Harcourt” model; and, is equipped with its original "bell" shaped cover, ending with a gripping button which is also hexagonal. Circular mark of the pontil on the reverse of the base, carefully ground. Baccarat factory; “Harcourt Missouri” model. End of the 20th century, late production. Signature affixed to the reverse of the base (see photo n°3), perfectly visible, with the "Baccarat France" stamp obtained by sandblasting. This model, “Harcourt Missouri”, is a combination of two designs already existing at Baccarat, both with cut sides. An identical jam maker also exists in a translucent version - clear crystal, not colored - and is still sold by Baccarat, at the boutique price (new value) of €450. On the other hand, black crystal models are much rarer, because they are very, very complex to make technically. The prices of black crystal items are in no way comparable to those of uncolored and clear crystal items (black crystal is much more expensive). The original idea—revisiting the “Harcourt” model with black crystal—is that of Philippe Starck: the Baccarat Manufacture first produced “Harcourt” glasses in entirely black crystal, before extending this idea to other elements. (table accessories in particular). The object that we present here, in addition to being rare, very elegant and truly decorative, is of perfect quality of execution. It is particularly heavy (the crystal almost looks like stone, it is so dense!). — DIMENSIONS — • total height of the jam maker, with its lid, 14.50 CM; • diameter of the jam maker, when opened, of 12.40 CM; • height of the jam maker without its lid (base only), 10.00 CM; • base: 07.50 CM (length) x 06.50 CM (width). — CONDITION REPORT — the jam maker is in perfect condition, really in perfect condition. There is absolutely no wear: it is like new! Tiny (but really tiny) and very fine scratches on the reverse of the base, not visible, without any impact and located underneath. These scratches are insignificant because they are very weak, and of no importance. The item truly remains in perfect condition!
