Beautiful and important Japanese lamp in satsuma porcelain and gilded bronze from the 19th century. The body of the lamp is made of satsuma porcelain, the bottom is purple in color. 4 characters appear: two mothers dressed in traditional Japanese clothing, accompanied by two children. The whole thing is decorated with maple leaves, with a gold finish. The base is in gilded bronze and richly chiseled. The feet are shaped like an elephant's head. Transformed into a lamp at the beginning of the 20th century, this vase has a removable leather compartment containing the electric mechanism and serves as a support for the lampshade. Satsuma porcelain is a type of Japanese porcelain born in the 6th century, during the Azuchi-Momoyama period.
