Jacques Cartier who is a French navigator and explorer he discovered Canada in 1534 he reached the Gulf of St Lawrence and explored the surrounding territories to which he gave the name Canada. - The carved plaque is signed m.Colette, a famous family of ivory sculptors in Dieppe for five generations. - Early 20th century period around 1900.
