Véronique Wirbel (1950-1990) : “In Africa”, oil on canvas 146 x 114 cm (80 figures), bearing the workshop stamp. There are encounters which, in hindsight, seem obvious to you. So it is with the work of Véronique Wirbel, who died tragically at barely 40 years old, abundant like a child's imagination, colorful like the fabrics of Africa that she knew well having spent her childhood there and communicative of 'a joy that apparently, alas! she did not share… Of course, we could find her kinship with Corneille, Basquiat or Aloïse, but she was Wirbel, quite simply. This painting comes from the Artist's workshop which we were lucky enough to be able to acquire and which we will gradually prepare and put up for sale.
