"Ancient Kashan In Silk On Silk, 126 X 208 Cm, Hand Knotted, Persia, Kadjar Dynasty, 19th Century"
Extraordinary old Kashan collection of museum quality, hand-knotted in silk on silk for a million knots in M2, from the second part of the 19th century, Kadjar dynasty, decorated with medallions with pendants or suspensoirs and rich naturalistic flower work, measuring 126 cm wide by 208 cm long.
A pure marvel of the art of the Persian carpet, of great finesse, to be seen like a painting, this type of piece cannot be placed on the ground and its patina, its nuances, will delight the eye of the "lover" of these wonders.
The central motif with double juxtaposed medallions decorated with two pendants, represents a large stylized flower in bloom, surrounded by other numerous flowers and interlacing covering the midnight blue colored field.
The border, main band composed of flowers and palm leaves. Above all, note:
# the quality and delicacy of the naturalist work of the flowers. Superb collector's rug, the Kashan in silk on silk are particularly rare with this type of decor, making it a real museum piece for this very carefully crafted rug. # The ninth photo shows the complete reverse of the rug.
# The twelfth photo shows a Kachan with architectural decor that we present on Proantic. Kashan (Kachan, Keshan): large city in central Iran.
During the Persian Renaissance, Kashan was the center of carpet production of legendary splendor. Finely woven carpets, of very rich composition, were knotted by the royal factory of Shah Abbas. They have become the centerpieces of museums and private collections.
Craftsmanship was interrupted in Kashan between the Afghan invasion (1722) and the end of the 19th century.
The revival of carpet production began with carpets which are distinguished by the superior quality of the wool giving an extremely velvety appearance. These examples are called Kashan Motashemi, named after the most famous master weaver of the late 19th century.
The settings are varied and meticulously crafted: hunting scenes, figured subjects inspired by Persian mythology, birds in a plant setting, trees of life. Thanks to the superior quality of the wool, their tight knotting, the beauty of their natural colors and their designs, the Kashan took their place among the best Persian rugs. This rug has been professionally and ecologically cleaned.
