France, attributed to the crystalworks of Baccarat or Montcenis (or Creusot / Vonêche). Charles X period (circa 1820–1830).H 38 cm
Very good overall condition, beautiful original gilding, wear consistent with use and minor chips to the crystal (see photos).

During the Restoration and the reign of Charles X, the great French crystalworks such as Baccarat or Montcenis reached new heights in the art of crystal cutting. The combination of heavy glass deeply cut in diamond-point patterns with finely chased gilt bronze mounts characterizes these luxury objects. These Médicis-form vases adorned the tables, mantelpieces, and consoles of aristocratic residences in the first half of the 19th century.

This pair of Médicis vases in cut crystal and gilt bronze from the Charles X period belongs to the high tradition of French decorative arts from the Restoration, testifying to the virtuosity of master crystal cutters and the refinement of Parisian bronziers.
