Max Blondat was born in Crain in 1872, he entered as an apprentice with an ornamental sculptor in 1886, in 1889 he began his art studies at the Germain-Pillon school and exhibited at the salon of French artists in 1890, in 1892 he entered the School of Fine Arts in Paris. then he exercises his talents in various fields: He works with all types of materials: wood, stone, glass, bronze, and creates many utility pieces such as knockers, stoppers radiators, ashtrays, etc... He created ceramics with Edmond Lachenal for the Sèvres factory, ironworks with Edgard Brandt, and also created jewelry for Hermès. In 1906, he was one of the founding members of the Society of Decorative Arts. In 1918, he directed the School of Fine Arts in Dijon then created memorials to the dead from 1919. He died in 1925.
