Large terracotta bust of the woman with flowers or "Waterlilies" by the French sculptor George Charles Coudray (1862-1931) from the art nouveau period around 1900. This sculpture was created especially for the Universal Exhibition of 1900, it symbolizes nature represented by a woman's hair covered with flowers and the base of the bust decorated with large water lilies. Green patina, signature, numbering and stamp “Exposition Universelle Paris 1900” on the back of the base.
Student of Alexandre Falguière at the Paris School of Fine Arts and of Henri Allouard, Georges Charles Coudray exhibited at the Paris Salon between 1882 and 1903. He was recognized by his peers for his busts, sculptures, medals and orientalist works .
