"Pair Of Virginia Creeper Vases By Paul Nicolas d'Argental - Gallé, Daum, Delatte Art Nouveau 1920"
Pair of ovoid Art Nouveau vases, circa 1920, by Nancy glassmaker Paul Nicolas (1875-1952), also known as d'Argental. The finely engraved decoration, rich in detail, features a cameo-like design in acid-etched, multi-layered glass depicting branches and berries of Virginia creeper (Ampelopsis vine) in shades of brown, orange, and red against a light brown satin background with subtle brown undertones. The effect is beautifully luminous. Each vase is signed "D'Argental Croix de Lorraine."
One vase is in perfect condition; the second has a slight external scratch on the neck and an internal firing line—these flaws are barely visible.
