Of great expressive naturalness is the Angel in object. Carved entirely of wood is to refer to the Lombard-Venetian school of the seventeenth century. The formal quality of the Angioletto is evident in the treatment of the elements of the face as well as the meticulous carving of the hair that frames it. The smooth surface of the volumes of the body, on which stand suggestive baths of light, is contrasted by the ripples of the drape that covers it only partially.
