Silk Ghoum Rug, Iran, Shah Period

This is a rare silk Ghoum rug made in Iran during the time of the Shah, around 1940. This rug has the following technical characteristics: its pile is made of silk and rests on foundations also made of silk. Its density is about 10,000 knots per square decimetre, which testifies to its remarkable finesse. It is in very good general condition. The motif of the rug is a hunting scene, with a midnight blue field decorated with warriors and hunters surrounded by animals and richly flowered trees of life, all done in polychromy. The rug has five borders, the main one of which is golden yellow in color and decorated with animals. dimensions: Length: 234 cm Width: 137 cm
