Lurçat Jean (1892-1966)
The master of contemporary tapestry, turned to ceramics in the early 1950s. For 15 years, he regularly stayed at the Sant-Vicens pottery workshop, created by Firmin Bauby. With the technical help of the ceramist Gumersid Gomila, he decorates dishes, vases, pitchers and other everyday objects. His work as a ceramist is also marked by monumental creations, such as the one that adorns the Maison de la Radio in Strasbourg (1961) or the Administrative City of Paris (1965).
