"Okimono - Group Of Figures With A Monkey, Japan, Meiji Era (1868-1912)"
Okimono - Sculpture in marine ivory representing a group of figures with a monkey. The figures are depicted in traditional Japanese costume, with intricately engraved decorations. An adult man (father of two boys?) holds in his hand a folded umbrella to which hangs a monkey wearing a (circus?) hat.

Marine ivory (walrus), carved, engraved, tinted.

Japan, Meiji era (1868-1912). Signature on the bottom.

Height 30cm.

State of conservation as seen in the photographs, good, part of the legs and hands of the figurine has glued cracks.

According to the Washington Convention (CITES), the object is allowed to be traded because of its time of creation.
