"Pair Of Blue John Covered Vases Circa 1780 Attributed To Matthew Boulton -"
Pair of oblong covered vases in Blue John with green, honey, bluish veins and touches of purple.
they are mounted with a beautiful ornamentation in "ormoulu", that is to say gilded and chiseled bronze typical of the production of Matthew Boulton's objects.
the body is applied with superb very finely chiseled rams' heads, the base with lotus leaves. They rest on a base with a fluted pedestal and laurel wreath. The pedestal resting on a square base with degrees whose angles are curved.
the socket is formed by a seed in the shape of a pine cone on a leafy terrace.
some small old restorations and cracks due to the fragility of the material.
